We know you have all done it.....Forgot to sign out of your Google Account on some random computer. Now you do not have to sprint back to that one computer and log out, with a simple click you can log out of your Google Gmail session if you've forgotten to log out. Simply log on at your new location and click 'details' at the very bottom of an old email and then click lo'sign out all other web sessions'. Once you have done that, Crisis adverted!
@gippytweets @AldineISD Use a Google Form at the beginning of the year for parents to give contact information. It puts all info in a spreadsheet ready to go for whatever you need! For more info on how to create a Google Form and use for an assignment ClickHere
@techtami -Aldine ISD Use Control-F to find or search in the document or file. This really helps since finding things in large documents or spreadsheets can be difficult. @itechlester Aldine ISD Today as I was working in a Google Doc I realized that every time I was opening a new document I kept changing the font to a different font, but it was always the same font I was changing it to. Its a simple fix, but just an extra step when creating a document. It took a few seconds to do a search and figure out how to fix that and here it is!!
To set a preferred font for your new documents:
Once you have done that, then your new font will be set for all of your new documents. To add new fonts to your list:
Every time I talk to certain teachers about using technology the response I usually get is "I'm not good with computers" or "I'm not tech savvy." It is very frustrating to me, because when they say that, I hear, "I don't really care to try." When I first started using computers, I wasn't very tech savvy either. Anyone who is just starting out isn't going to be very tech savvy, but we have to start somewhere. Getting teachers to use technology is always an issue that comes up in school and there haven't been a lot of answers to how to change that. I have an idea that I am going to try out and see how it goes. It may be a complete failure or it could a huge success, but I won't know until I try it out!
Instead of fighting with teachers about using technology, I'm going to go about it a little backwards! I am going to start pulling students and teaching them how to use different technology. I know it will be easy to get the students interested in using technology, because most of them already use these things at home. Once I get the students excited about educational technology and they are able to use the technology that I have showed them, I will have them introduce it to their teachers. If the students start showing the teachers how well they can use the technology and what it is doing for them, I am hoping that it will kind of force the teacher to start using the technology. It is going to take some time to introduce this plan and get it to truly work, but any way that I can change the way teachers think about using technology is going to help! -Jake Elmhorst -Ermel Elementary/Aldine ISD For our first Tech Tip, it might be a little broad, but it is an important one. When planning for technology integration, there can never be too many people involved. Do not try to implement new technology with only consulting one or two people. Bring your administration into the picture, your skills specialist, other teachers and anyone else on your campus or in the district who can help. This will give many different view points into how the new technology can be integrated and everyone will be on the same page. When administration comes in, they are not confused as to what you are doing and will not need to ask several questions. If they are informed about what you are doing, they can also offer suggestions on how to best integrate into your lessons. We have an administration strand at TCCA for this reason. We know administrators can play a large role in technology integration, so we want them to be knowledgeable about the tools available to them. If your administration has not seen the importance of technology, encourage them to come to TCCA this year and sit in on a couple of the Admin strand sessions and learn more about how they can assist teachers in the classroom.
